Food

When researching about food I learned that it's best to stay away from foods that cause inflammation and eat foods that are anti-inflammatory!
The worst thing I learnt is that it would be best for me to give up dairy!! That is the worst thing you can tell me because I love my cheese!  However I haven't fully cut it out just yet but I have really cut down on how much I consume.  I basically had cheese with every meal, on my sandwiches, on burgers, over chips, over my eggs in the morning.  Now I will only have cheese for one meal a week, usually it is when I eat out for a treat at the weekend but I have totally cut out milk.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, I don't miss it at all.  However, one thing I read was that dairy is addictive and so that is why people believe they would never be able to give it up.  I don't find myself craving it at all and I don't even have it once a week anymore, it is less, maybe once a month now and I have noticed my bloating go down so it definitely is helping.

I also remember before I was diagnosed I was really indulging myself.  I was having more alcohol and hardly ever eating salad, eating plenty of cake and chocolate.  I knew even before I was diagnosed that I needed to eat cleaner but getting the diagnosis only reaffirmed that it was time to clean up my diet.  I have cut down on alcohol, I will have one glass of wine a week, if that.  I also have cut down on cake and chocolate.  I'm eating more leafy greens and vegetables.  I already feel much better and I've even lost a few pounds so that's a bonus.  The biggest bonus of all was that on my last period it was not as painful as it usually is so that must mean I'm doing something right.

Anyway after watching many videos on what I need to eat that helps with endometriosis I made a list in my notebook of my phone so whenever I'm at the supermarket I have a good idea of what I should be buying.

Here is a copy of the list I made:

  •  Sea Kelp
  • Avocado
  • Ginger and Cinnamon
  • Parsley
  • Walnuts
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Salmon ad sardines
  • Beet tops (leaves of the beetroot - naturally helps gallbladder and liver).
  • Broccoli and Cauliflower sprouts
  • Green Tea
  • Nutritional Yeast (also a good replacement for cheese, be sure to buy non-fortified, fortified has a lot of artificial vitamins).  This is good for your nervous system and helps fight stress - add some to your salad, soups or anything else you think of.
  • Evening primrose oil - helps aches and pains.
  • Garlic
  • Tomato
  • Berries
  • Mushrooms
  • Leafy greens - kale, spinach, cabbage etc
  • Shallots
  • Peppermint, sage and rosemary
  • Turmeric
  • Peanuts
  • Lemon juice - you can drink with water on an empty stomach in the morning.
  • Horsetail (can be drank as a tea).
As you see there are plenty of things to incorporate in your diet.  Now I don't want you to go out and buy everything but there are plenty of things so you don't have to keep buying the same things all the time and you can have a variety.  Also check which works best for you and what you will enjoy eating more.  Also if you have medication then be sure to check that nothing will interfere with that.  It is always recommended to check with your doctor.

Anyway I hope this have given you some great ideas and I'll see you in the next post!
